Hallelujah! A friend at work just told me about "No See 'Ems". I have to say, it's an answer to my prayers!

"Buzz off safety pins and ordinary fashion tape! No See ‘ems to the rescue! These easy-to–use, clear, reinforced closures slide around and behind the button to give you a smooth, tailored look. No more sneak peeking. They seal firmly above and below the button of your choice and are safe for most fabrics, even 100 percent silk and cashmere. They are great for sweaters that pull at the buttons and those nice fitted blouses. No See ‘ems go on clear and come off clean. No residue! And although No See ‘ems are disposable, they can often be reused depending on the previous fabric type. But, please test the bond to be sure."
