I recently went to my first Marimekkostore while visiting KT and Nicky in NYC. A dream come true. The wall of fabric was just as gorgeous as the photo above. If you aren't familiar with Marimekko, you make recognize their very popular print Unikko, seen below.
KT and Nicky used the Ginkgo print (below) to make a piece of wall art that covers a large wall in their new apartment. The best part? The leaves in the print were actually on the ground in NYC while I was there. How apropos! And beautiful. This cow print (Kevätjuhla) is all over CB2 right now. And this is my current favorite: Keisarinna. Kind of muted for me. Must be the weather.
Marimekko is a Finnish company founded in 1951. Per wikipedia, Marimekko fabrics were made famous in the United States by Jacqueline Kennedy, who bought eight Marimekko dresses which she wore throughout the 1960 US Presidential campaign.
