Linnea Design

I've always noticed these bold prints and calendars, but I never really knew what they were called or who designed them. Finally I looked it up online and found the source! Linnea Design has been making the famous poster calendars since 1987. I think the 2011 calendar is a must have. Perfect for a professional scheduler!

Cakes

Hello! I apologize that it's been so long since my last post. I have so many posts in mind, I just haven't written them yet.

Here's what I'm thinking about on a Tuesday afternoon... Cakes.

I saw this print on a Design*Sponge post and it reminded me just how much I love it. How fitting that this Wayne Thiebaud painting is at the National Gallery here in DC. Might have to be my next purchase!

Now you want something sweet don't you?

Vegas

I just got back from Familypalooza 09 in Las Vegas where we had a lot of fun AND I took some texture pictures.

My favorite scene in Vegas was the Parasol Bar at the Wynn. There is a huge pool and a waterfall. The figure out in the water is a sculpture of a man standing in the water, facing the waterfall. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Domino

I also got this yumminess for my birthday. It's on my nightstand right now, I think I'll read a page a night to ensure beautiful dreams.

Color

I got this great book from Jefe for my birthday. It's called Color: A Natural History of the Palette. I'm so excited to get started, it's right up my alley. After I finish American Wife of course!

Owls

I know I'm pretty late to the game on this one, but I have been seeing owl prints everywhere. At first glance, I do not find owls aesthetically appealing, but the more I look, the more I like. Here are some of my faves. The first is wrapping paper I actually received with a gift recently.

print & pattern

I think I may have found my favorite blog. In fact, I might just quit blogging on Finch and defer to print & pattern. It's sooooo yummy. You must check it out. I'll also add it to the "Faves" section of this blog (look right).

It's Orla Kiely and I love her.
And now, you can find her patterns at Target!

Along with Garnet Hill and Anthropologie
I LOVE this bag.
Maybe you need an umbrella?

Marimekko Continued

Stephen from Thrice-Told Tales sent me a link to a packaging blog featuring Marimekko packaging for Avon. It's everywhere! And I love it!

More Yellow and Grey

Remember the ole' Yellow and Grey post? I was walking through Arhaus in the Mall the other day and ran across this gorgeous thing. It was so yummy I made my Dad wait while I sat in it for a minute.

Bemz - Give your IKEA sofa a new life.

Wow. That KT, I tell you what. She moves to NYC and is EVEN MORE in the know (if that was even possible). She just showed me this fantastic site, www.bemz.com, where you can customize your IKEA furniture. And who hasn't wanted to do that before? And why didn't I think of it?

So of course now I want to customize the Tullsta chair in our bedroom to look like this:

There are so many fabric options!

OMG

They actually don't bleed!!!!

I just bought the previously mentioned Sharpie pens and they are just as wonderful as promised! I trekked over to Staples and had to ask for them as they were behind the counter... Sudafed style. They only had black. I'm hoping to add the other colors to my collection soon, and crossing my fingers that this is just the beta release and there will be more colors to come!

Working in bliss,

K

Ohhhhh Nelly...

They did it. Sharpie answered all my prayers. I saw an advertisement on tv for Sharpie pens last night. Get this... they wont bleed through paper. WOOOHOOOO! They are also smear resistant, permanent on paper and water resistant. But did I mention they don't bleed through paper? I am a devoted Sharpie user and am so thankful for this recent development. It looks like there are only four colors available right now (black, blue, green and red), but let's face it, it's Sharpie, I'm sure they will have the full range in no time. Praise the Sharpie Gods! I'm off to Staples!

Texture and Pattern Pictures from Paris

Some pictures I took while in Paris. It would be helpful if I were a better photographer and there would be more if cathedrals weren't so persnickety about using a flash. Some of the pictures are obvious and Bill was kind enough to point out that many of them are pattern and not texture. But I feel like the collection is a good summary of our Parisian adventure. I'll tell you in a future post where all the pictures were taken. Enjoy!

Color Sense Game

I found out about the Color Sense Game from this great blog How About Orange. You answer questions about your personality, taste and senses and the game computes your "Color Personality". Im 'Water Beads' and 'White Spaces'. Sounds nice, but my personal assessment is that I'm WAY more 'Pop Art'. It's nice and bold.

I want to re-paint the bedroom in these colors from the 'Pop Art' collection:

Which is funny because orange and blue are the primary colors of this blog. Hmmm.

What is your color personality?

Amy Butler

I have loved Amy Butler's fabrics for some time now. I actually have no recollection of how I orignially found out about her. In addition to fabric, you can find Amy Butler stationary, bags and pillows. Visit her site.

Below are some pictures of Amy's studio in Ohio. What fun!

Here is a sample of her Midwest Modern line. It's my favorite, but you should check out her Nigella, Lotus and Belle collections as well.
